PRIVATE PILOT COURSE (PPL-H)

The Private Helicopter Pilot (PPL-H) course is designed to train pilots to fly helicopters safely in a non-commercial setting. It is also a natural first step for those who wish to go on to obtain a commercial pilot license, as well as for those who want to fly for leisure and recreational purposes.

  • Be at least 17 years old.
  • Hold a valid Class II aviation medical certificate.

100 hours of in-person classroom instruction at our facilities at Sabadell Airport. Fifty percent of the training can be completed online.

40 hours of flight time in a Cabri G2 helicopter.
5 hours in an EC-135 FNPT II simulator.

The approximate duration of the course is 4 months, depending on the time commitment of the student and the planning of the theoretical and practical sessions.

  • Private Helicopter Pilot License (PPL-H).
  • Type enablement for Cabri G2.
  • Be at least 17 years old.

  • To provide the theoretical knowledge necessary to operate a helicopter as a private pilot.
  • Develop practical flying skills under the supervision of qualified instructors.
  • To familiarize the student with the procedures, current regulations and good practices in helicopter aviation.
  • To initiate the student in the formative path that will allow him/her, if desired, to advance towards professional licenses.

The course is structured in two main blocks: theoretical training and practical training in flight and simulator.

Theoretical training

  • Teaching load:
    • 100 hours of classroom theory in our classrooms at Sabadell Airport.
    • 50% of the training can be carried out in a (…) manner (depending on the available modality).
  • Place of delivery:
    • Own classrooms at Sabadell Airport.
  • Subjects and approximate hourly load:
    • Aviation legislation (12 hours)
    • General knowledge of the aircraft (23 hours)
    • Performance and planning (5 hours)
    • Human Factors (7 hours)
    • Meteorology (14 hours)
    • Navigation (14 hours)
    • Operational Procedures (9 hours)
    • Principles of flight (7 hours)
    • Communications (9 hours)
  • Evaluation system:
    • Once the theoretical hours corresponding to each subject have been completed, the student will take an internal exam at the school.
    • After passing this internal exam, the student will be submitted to the official AESA exams to obtain the license.

Flight and simulator training

  • Flight practice site:
    • Sabadell Airport.
  • Training helicopters:
    • Cabri G2, new helicopters, with state-of-the-art design and technology, aimed at maximizing learning and safety.
  • Flight simulator:
    • Coptering EC-135 FNPT II simulator, suitable for practicing emergency and other operational procedures.
  • Flight and simulator hours:
    • 40 hours of flight time in a Cabri G2 helicopter.
    • 5 hours in EC-135 FNPT II simulator.
    • 1 hour exam flight.

Upon successful completion of the course and passing the corresponding exams, the student will obtain:
Private Helicopter Pilot License (PPL-H).
Type rating for Cabri G2.

  • To formalize the registration, a training contract must be signed and the registration fee must be paid.
  • The school has different payment and financing systems and facilities, adapted to the circumstances of each student.
  • Different accommodation options are offered for students who require it.
  • Once the course has been completed and the corresponding license has been obtained, Coptering students may receive, if they wish, advice and preparation for access to selection tests and job vacancies with different national and international airline operators, according to their interests and preferences.

Total price of the course: 28,400

The course is designed as an integral proposal, so that the student has a clear and complete vision of the investment to be made, without the need to add concepts as the training progresses.

The total amount of the course includes:

  • Theoretical exam fees (first attempt of each subject).
  • Examination flight.
  • Flight examiner fee.
  • Airport taxes.

In this way, all the essential elements for obtaining the license are already contemplated from the beginning, which facilitates the student’s economic planning and provides a calmer, more transparent and predictable training experience, avoiding increases derived from these concepts throughout the course.
