Some years ago, Bruno Guimbal stopped working for Eurocopter (Airbus Helicopters) to devote himself to his dream. On March 31, 2005, the prototype of the current Cabri G2 (S / N 1001 F- WYHG) traveled to Aix in Provence for the first time and 18 August 2005 had established three official world records in its class:

  • - Height achieved without payload of 6,658 m (21,838 ft)
  • - Duration of a climb to 3,000 m (9840 ft) 6 min 42 sec
  • - Duration of a climb to 6,000 m (19,680 ft) 22 min 6 sec

Hélicoptères Guimbal received the first orders of Cabri G2 in June 2006. After six years of intensive work in the design and nearly 300 hours of flight testing, the December 15, 2007, the Cabri G2 received his license EASA ( EASA) Safety in accordance with CS-27.
The September 18, 2008 Guimbal delivered its first unit to a customer Cabri G2 (number of S / N 1003 series).
Bruno Guimbal explains that the name "Cabri" is an acronym formed from: C comfort in A autorotation B belongs to R rotor I inertia (comfort in autorotation depends on the inertia of the rotor). Cabri is also the French word for a small mountain goat. A suitable name for a small high-power helicopter conveys a sense of indescribable freedom when flying through the mountains.
